Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Marks New Chapter for WMCHC During National Health Center Week

White Memorial Community Health Center (WMCHC) officially celebrated the expansion with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 10:00–11:00 a.m. at the new clinic facility (Medical Office Building 1, Suite 456).

The event coincided with National Health Center Week and included remarks from community leaders and partners. WMCHC welcomed Yvette Aragon from U.S. Representative Jimmy Gomez’s office (CA-34), who played a key role in securing funding for the expansion. Senator Maria Elena Durazo, Elsie Garcia from Councilmember Ysabel Jurados’ office, Crystal Meza from Assemblymember Mark Gonzalez’s office, Board Chair George Ramirez, CEO of LA Care Martha Santana-Chin, and other WMCHC leadership were in attendance.

“This expansion is about more than just space—it’s about deeper access, stronger trust, and healthier futures. White Memorial Community Health Center is a lifeline in Boyle Heights, and this new facility allows us to serve more patients with the high-quality, culturally respectful care our community deserves.” – Chair of the WMCHC Board of Directors, George Ramirez

“I was proud to help secure federal funding to expand the White Memorial Community Health Center because they understand our community’s needs. With their new facility, more families in Los Angeles will have access to affordable, high-quality health care closer to home. Congratulations to Adventist Health and the entire White Memorial team for making this vision a reality.” – Congressman, Jimmy Gomez

Located just across the street from WMCHC’s original clinic, the new facility in Medical Office Building 1, Suite 456 adds nearly 10,000 square feet of renovated space built to OSHPD 3 standards. Designed as a Patient-Centered Medical Home, the clinic provides coordinated, accessible, and personalized care.

A multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, and care coordinators, will be supported by 19 additional staff to deliver compassionate, efficient care.

At full capacity, the clinic will serve over 8,000 patients annually, with more than 24,000 medical visits and 3,600 behavioral health visits expected each year. The expansion is critical for Boyle Heights, where many residents face barriers to care and a higher rate of chronic conditions like diabetes, asthma, and hypertension.

“Boyle Heights is a place where families uplift one another—and where care must be rooted in dignity, culture, and access. This expansion by White Memorial Community Health Center is more than bricks and mortar; it’s an investment in health equity. I’m proud to stand with WMCHC and the countless families who will benefit from this deeper commitment to our community’s well-being.” — State Senator, María Elena Durazo

White Memorial Community Health Center’s mission of providing high-quality care to all – regardless of ability to pay – is at the heart of this expansion. With more space and services, the new facility strengthens WMCHC’s role as a trusted health partner in the community, focused on prevention, chronic care, and compassionate, bilingual support. WMCHC is proud to be a trusted healthcare partner for Boyle Heights.
